Dettol and Dr Dawn Harper, a powerful partnership
Dettol has joined forces with Dr Dawn Harper to add her backing to our Mission for Health. As a family GP who also runs specialist clinics focusing on women’s health, baby’s health and preventative medicine, Dr Dawn understands all too well the importance of keeping your home healthy, especially for new arrivals:
Co-presenter of Channel 4’s hugely successful show Embarrassing Bodies, Dr Dawn is also a regular contributor on programmes such as ITV’s This Morning and writes a health column for NOW Magazine. She has a depth of growing medical knowledge, gained over the course of her career in medicine.
Dr Dawn will be supporting our Mission for Health initiative throughout the year with in-depth articles on your baby’s health and general tips on how to prepare your home for a new baby.
A message from Dr Dawn:
As a new Mum, you will want to do everything you can to care for your baby and protect him from infection.
You will also need to be extra vigilant with hygiene in the first few months. Everyone knows that hand to skin contact can be a cause of germs spreading to your baby, but it surprises many to learn that bacteria and viruses that live on day to day surfaces can also be a threat. They can infiltrate your home and survive for days once they’re there, putting your family at risk of catching a virus, spreading them and/or becoming ill. Therefore, taking care of surfaces in your home is all part of your baby protection process.
Do not forget that bugs that pose no threat to you and I can be harmful to newborn babies, so make sure you wipe surfaces daily and that hands are clean before handling your baby.
